How about the economy of China's machine tool industry from January to May 2022
In May, many parts of China were still under strict epidemic control, and the impact of the epidemic was still prominent. Judging from the data from January to May 2022, the operating income of key enterprises associated with the China Machine Tool Industry Association increased by 0.4% year-on-year, down 3.8 percentage points from January to April. The total profit of key contact enterprises increased by 29.5% year-on-year, down 12.8 percentage points from January to April. New orders for metal processing machine tools fell by 4.1% year-on-year, 2.3 percentage points higher than that from January to April, and orders in hand increased by 2.5% year-on-year, down 1.0 percentage points from January to April.
From the data of the month of May, the monthly operating income in May fell by 12.9% and 12.6% year-on-year and month-on-month, respectively, 7.5 and 5.6 percentage points higher than that in April. The total profit for the month of May increased by 1.6% year-on-year and 4.1% month-on-month, respectively, from a decline in April to an increase. New orders in May fell by 17.1% and 21.1% year-on-year and month-on-month respectively.
According to China Customs data, from January to May 2022, the total import of machine tools was US$5.19 billion, a year-on-year decrease of 9.0%; the total export value was US$8.11 billion, a year-on-year increase of 12.7%. Exports continued to maintain significant growth.
The association focuses on contacting enterprises from January to May and the decline of the main indicators in May, mainly due to the accidental factors of the epidemic, and the fundamentals of the domestic economy are stable and improving. Since the beginning of June, the epidemic situation in Shanghai and Beijing has been brought under control, social production and life have recovered rapidly, and enterprises in the machine tool industry have basically resumed normal operation. It can be expected that if there is no major rebound in the domestic epidemic, the machine tool industry will soon return to the normal growth track.
