Nitriding process of aluminum extrusion die
The nitriding of a complex shape extrusion die may result in an uneven nitride layer, so the required hardness may not be achieved in some areas of the bearing area. Nitriding process is used to optimize mold design and extend service life.
The Extrusion die must be nitrided. Nitriding treatment can increase the hardness of the mold. Nitriding treatment needs more times, 3-4 times is required,, and the nitriding thickness should reach 0.15mm.
How to nitriding for the aluminum extrusion die?
1.Preparations before operation
1),Check whether the elements (include temp. Controller, gauge, fan motor, furnace door open/close mechanism and power) are working well.
2),Clear all the sundries out of furnace and check whether the thermocouple and divider are in it position.
2.Dry the furnace before final operation
1),When dry the furnace, please note: a.heating speed should be less than 50℃; b.divide the heating process into several stages from low temperature to high temperature, heat till the furnace chamber temperature till 650℃.
2), It is unnecessary to dry the furnace during normal use process.
3.Running the furnace
1),Adjust the temperature gauge according to your nitriding technology, connect the gauge power, circulation fan power, heating power to make the furnace work continuously till the temperature arrive working temperature (suggested working temperature 570℃), working temperature should be not exceed 650 ℃).
2),Check the actually temperature of furnace and temperature on gauge regularly,correct it if any difference.
3) ,Close the door before operation, then open the circulation fan and switch on the heating power. While for unloading process, please switch off the power first,then close the circulation fan, open the door. It’s not allowed to start the circulation fan before open the door.
4.Working
1),Please cut off the power when load/unload.
2),The divider and basket help the circulation, please use it in right condition.
3),Make sure the tools loaded into the furnace are clean and dry. Tools with oil are not allowed to send into the furnace.
4),Please watch the working condition of gauge in time.
5),Keep the furnace and working area clean.
5.Stop work
When unload the tools out furnace, please switch off the power then turn off the circulation fan to avoid high temperature. Open the furnace door, lift the basket out, and close the furnace door when it’s cool.If the furnace temperature is higher than 300℃, please turn on the circulation fan for cooling. When is lower than 250℃, can cut off the circulation fan power.
