What are the differences between the slow wire EDM machine and the Spark EDM machine
Spark EDM machine is mainly used in injection molding mold processing, and also in hardware molds, with high processing precision. Brass wire EDM machine is also mainly used in mold processing, including all difficult-to-machine special-shaped parts and through-holes of the whole set of molds. The same is electric machining, their processing principle is the same, but the processing properties are very different.
Spark EDM machine tools are widely used in mold processing. The processing principles of the two are the same. They both use the positive and negative current contact discharge to generate high temperature to melt the metal, so as to achieve the purpose of cutting. Spark EDM can only process metal parts, almost no cutting force is generated during the processing, and there is no special requirement for the hardness of the processed parts.
The Brass wire cut EDM machine uses copper wire as the electrode wire, which has low processing efficiency and high precision, and generally needs to be cut 3-4 times. Processing costs are high. Wire EDM uses a reciprocating wire electrode to cut parts like a saw. The disadvantage is that it can only process parts that pass through up and down.
Secondly, the electric spark EDM machine mainly uses the discharge electrode with a specific geometric shape on the metal part to use the continuous pulsed spark discharge between the fire tool and the workpiece to generate local and instantaneous high temperature to gradually remove the metal material to form the shape of the electrode. It is widely used in the production of blanking dies and casting dies, especially in the complex, precise and small cavities, narrow slots, grooves, corners, and other important applications of the die. Generally used as semi-finishing and finishing.
