1 When the ball end milling cutter is milling a curved surface, the linear velocity at the tip is zero. If the ball cutter is used to mill a relatively flat surface perpendicular to the surface to be machined, the surface quality of the ball cutter tip is relatively poor, so it should be Properly increase the spindle speed, and avoid cutting with the tool tip.
2 Avoid vertical cutting. There are two types of end mills used in machining centers. One is that there is a top hole on the end face, and the end edge is not in the center. The other is that there is no top hole on the end face, and the end blades are connected and over the center. When milling curved surfaces, an end mill with a center hole must never feed vertically downward like a drill, unless a process hole is pre-drilled. Otherwise, the milling cutter will be broken off. If an end mill without a top hole is used, it can be fed vertically downward, but because the blade angle is too small and the axial force is large, it should be avoided as much as possible. The best way is to feed the knife obliquely downward, and then use the side edge to cut laterally after entering a certain depth. When milling the groove face, process holes can be pre-drilled for cutting. Although the effect of vertical feeding with a ball-end mill is better than that of a flat-bottomed end mill, it is also best not to use this cutting method because the axial force is too large and affects the cutting effect.
3 When milling the complex surface of the mold cavity, it generally takes a long period of time. Therefore, the machine tool, fixture and tool should be properly checked before each start-up milling, so as to avoid failure in the middle, affecting the machining accuracy, and even causing waste.
4 When milling the mold cavity, the trimming allowance should be properly controlled according to the roughness of the machined surface. For the parts that are difficult to be milled, if the surface roughness of the machined surface is poor, more margin for repairing should be reserved; for the parts that are easy to machine such as planes and right-angle grooves, the roughness value of the machined surface should be reduced as much as possible to reduce the repairing work. to avoid affecting the accuracy of the cavity surface due to large-area repairing.
