(1) Using the principle of electro-erosion processing, the electrode wire and the workpiece are not in direct contact, and the force between the two is very small, so the deformation of the workpiece is very small, and the electrode wire and fixture do not need too high strength.
(2) The wire-shaped electrode wire is directly used as the electrode, and there is no need to make a special electrode, which can save the electrode design and manufacturing costs.
(3) It can process workpieces with complex shapes that are difficult or impossible to machine with traditional cutting methods. Since the CNC wire cutting machine is a digital control system, it is only necessary to compile different control programs to process different workpieces, and it is easy to realize automatic processing of workpieces of different shapes. It is very suitable for the processing of small batches of complex shapes, single pieces and trial products, and the processing cycle is short.
(4) CNC wire cutting adopts four-axis linkage, which can process parts such as taper, upper and lower special-shaped bodies.
(5) In traditional turning, milling and drilling processing, the hardness of the tool must be greater than that of the workpiece, while the electrode wire of the CNC EDM machine does not have to be harder than the workpiece material, and can be processed with high hardness or brittleness, which is difficult to use with ordinary cutting methods. Machined or unmachined materials. The electrode wire used as a tool does not need to be sharpened during processing, which can save auxiliary time and tool costs.
(6) CNC wire cutting directly uses electricity and heat for processing, which can easily adjust the processing parameters (such as pulse width, interval, and current) that affect the processing accuracy, which is conducive to the improvement of processing accuracy and facilitates the realization of automatic control of the processing process.
(7) The working fluid adopts water machine emulsion, which has low cost and no fire.
(8) EDM cannot process non-conductive materials.
(9) Compared with general cutting, CNC wire cutting has a low metal removal rate, so the processing cost is high, and it is not suitable for the processing of large-scale parts with simple shapes.
